Hardened AI is an independent consultancy in Huntsville, Alabama, building private AI infrastructure for organizations that can't use the cloud version.
Two things happened at the same time. AI tools became good enough that people started using them for real work — and the organizations with the most to lose from a data disclosure got the least usable guidance about it.
The advice those organizations received was mostly "don't." That advice failed immediately, because the tools are useful and the people using them have deadlines. What was missing wasn't a stronger policy. It was an option that let people do the work without creating an exposure.
That option exists and has for a while. It just requires someone to build it, and the organizations who need it most are usually the ones with the least spare engineering capacity to do it themselves.
Because the problem is concentrated here. Huntsville has one of the densest populations of defense contractors and aerospace engineering firms in the country — organizations handling CUI and ITAR-controlled technical data as an ordinary part of the workday.
Those are exactly the organizations for whom cloud AI is not a risk-tolerance decision but a categorical non-starter. Being local means I can be on site, which matters for work that involves someone's server room.
Every call opens with the same framing: it's possible the answer is that you don't need anything from me yet. I'd rather give that answer than sell a deployment that shouldn't happen.
I don't resell hardware or take referral fees from software vendors. The recommendation you get is the one I'd make if I were paying for it, because there's no version where I make more by recommending differently.
The hardware, the models, the configuration, and the documentation are yours at handover. No license that expires, no dependency on me continuing to exist as a business.
The architecture I deploy for clients is the architecture I run for myself, continuously. It's not a reference diagram — it's a system I've had to keep up at two in the morning.
I'm not going to dress that up with a "team" page. It's a real trade-off, so here's both sides of it honestly.
Thirty minutes, no cost, no obligation. It's entirely possible the answer is that you don't need anything from me yet — and I'll tell you that.
